Downey Folk Music Jam

The Downey Folk Music Jam was created in September, 2007 to bring  more folk music to local residents.  We soon found out Downeyites are not the only ones attracted to jamming.  We also have regular players from the San Fernando Valley, central Orange County, and occasional visitors from various states.  Even international visitors! What a treat!

We play round-robin style and welcome acoustic instrument players and singers of all levels.  Although we call this a ‘folk jam,’ we tend to play anything from Celtic to traditional American, Old-Time to country-western, and even some contemporary music.  Percussion instruments are available to borrow and visitors are welcome to sit around the outside of the circle and sing, clap or play rhythm instruments as appropriate. Children are welcome but those under 14 are to be accompanied by an adult.

If you would like a sneak peek, we are excited to announce we have been featured twice in the CNN HEADLINE NEWS, Local Edition of the Southern California News, Metro Division.  Both segments are narrated by Ron Roberson.  Thanks, Ron!
